Telehealth Physical Therapy

According to the WA State Department of Health, "Telehealth" means providing physical therapy via electronic communication where the physical therapist or physical therapist assistant and the patient are not at the same physical location.

 "Electronic communication" means the use of interactive, secure multimedia equipment that includes, at a minimum, audio and video equipment permitting two-way, real time interactive communication between the physical therapist or the physical therapist assistant and the patient.

With the current State law and licensing rules, Telehealth PT may be done in States that currently issue compact privileges. A compact privilege may be purchased by a practitioner individually by State. The States that currently participate in the PT compact include:  

  • Arizona

  • Colorado

  • Iowa

  • Kentucky

  • Louisiana

  • Missisipi

  • Missouri

  • Nebraska

  • New Hampshire

  • North Carolina

  • North Dakota

  • Oregon

  • Utah

  • Tenesse 

  • Texas

  • Washington
